About
The Full Story
Welcome, Karen here! Have you ever found yourself right back where you started? I certainly did—almost! Born in Montreal and moved to Vancouver in my first six months of life, I embarked on an adventure when my parents made the bold decision to leave the city for the country! Despite the challenges, like my mom's dislike for BC's rain, rising fuel prices, and economic insecurity (this was the 70's) they took the leap and bought a 127-acre farm—yes, a farm, despite having zero farming experience! With dilapidated buildings and a home overtaken by critters, my brother and I dove into a world of discovery, uncovering old farm tools and exploring untamed fields. My parents poured their hearts into reclaiming this farmstead, and their journey inspired the Bloulou name—B for my dad Bruce and L for my mom Louise, fondly known as Loulou. Bloulou symbolizes a simpler life filled with handmade things and authentic ingredients. Today, I still call that farm home for now while I navigate a big life transition. You'll hear more of my stories about my adventures, organic farming, yoga, and even my charming pygmy goats, Oatmeal and Peanut! Join me on this exciting journey!
